Introductions by Budge Wilson

Anne of Avonlea (Puffin Books, 2009)Anne of the Island (Puffin Books, 2009)

To follow up on my earlier post about the Puffin Classics reissues of Anne of Avonlea and Anne of the Island, it turns out that Budge Wilson, author of Before Green Gables, wrote the introductions to both.

My copies are still in the mail, but they should arrive soon.

  1. Scott Enos says:

Why does Anne look so angry in the 2 covers shown. One would think that they would have chosen a better representation of Anne than this. If I were a first-time “Anne” reader, I think I would skip it based on these terrible book covers!

  2. I’m not sure, Scott. I actually kind of like these cartoon Annes, partly because I’ve never been that attracted to the more romantic covers. What kind of cover images would you prefer for the Anne books?

  3. Sue Forrer says:

I agree with Scott. I loved Anne of Green Gables, and the picture depiction does nothing to reflect the true image of what this story represents.
